The Magistrates are vested with the power to settle actual controversies involving rights which are legally demandable and enforceable and to determine whether or not there has been a grave abuse of discretion amounting to a lack or excess of jurisdiction on the part of any branch or instrumentality of the USG (Section 1, Article XX, USG Constitution). Each Magistrate shall have their own office, which may be composed of a Chief of Staff, Magisterial Secretaries, and Magisterial Clerks (Section 2, Article V, Judiciary Rules of Internal Governance).
